Our group pursuits multidisciplinary research defining the interfaces between chemistry, materials and engineering. In general, we are interested in creating structually and functionally novel nanomaterials, and their applications towards photonics, sensors, actuators and energy. In this context, we are trying to address the problems such as how to construct hierarchiral nanostructures with a certain order from various primitive nanomaterials (polymeric or inorganic), and how to control the apparent physical properties of the hierarchial nanostructures.

고분자 나노재료 연구실에서는 화학, 재료, 엔지니어링과 같은 다양한 연구분야의 종합적 이해와 해석을 바탕으로 응용 가능한 multidisciplinary 연구를 하고자 한다. 일반적으로 말해, 우리 연구실에서는 구조적으로 혹은 기능적으로 새로운 나노물질을 개발하고 또한 그들을 이용한 광학, 센서, 엑츄에이터 그리고 에너지 분야에서 새로운 응용성을 연구하고자 한다. 이와 관련하여 어떻게 무질서 하게 배열되어 있는 다양한 기본적 나노물질들을 이용하여 특정한 배열을 가진 새로운 고차원적 나노구조물을 만들것인가? 그리고 어떻게하면 새로운 나노구조물질의 물리적 성질을 조절할것인가? 하는 중요한 문제에 대하여 해결점을 찾으려고 한다.
